What a day, glad it's almost over!

I'm tired, didn't get a lot of sleep last night.  Then the phone woke me up twice this morning before 9am.  Was up letting the dogs out to potty at 4:30 this morning, don't think I shut my eyes until at least 5am.  **Yawn**
Got less accomplished today than I wanted to accomplish.  But sometimes that's how it goes.

I received my copy of "The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt" last evening and so I looked at it last night while I wasn't sleeping.  I checked out the CD as well.  I know folks are crazy about this quilt, but gee, there's sooooo much missing in this book.  Like instructions!  Like measurements.   And one template on a PDF page?
I cannot imagine that even me with my limited quilting experience would put a book of quilt block patterns together without at least instructions!  I was lucky enough to find someone who had taken the templates and put them together, all of them on about 15 pages.  I swear, people need to think, think about trees and paper and waste and such.  I'm going to give it a try, maybe not until I have some more of my UFO's done, but I'm going to give it a shot, at least the easier blocks!  But all in all, I'm very disappointed in it and kind of wish I hadn't bought it.  :(

I got some more fabric, from Connecting Threads.  I love that place!
Most of this was on sale for about 4$ a yard, and it's such great fabric.
I got some of my favorite colors.  I got some cream.  But where was my brain, I didn't get any white, and all of a sudden, I'm using a ton of white.  I'm going to have to visit a quilt store in Sierra Vista and buy a bold of white cotton quilting fabric, and probably a bolt of black too.  I like having plenty of those two around.  I could use a bolt of good bleached muslin too.  Need to get that at Joanns!

I found a Modern Quilt Block of the Month on a blog and this is the first block.  What fun it was to make!
I think I might put a lap quilt together of this block, would make a great gift for someone for a birthday or Christmas!

I can't wait to see what the next block is.  :)

I was sewing blocks together today for my garden fence quilt, and when I got done, I wanted to change my thread color and when I pulled this out, I was grateful that it took me to the finish of the blocks!  Usually I run out, but I do so appreciate the times when my bobbin thread does this for me!

I'm in a Garden Fence QAL, and have 17 blocks made.  Here's three of my favorites.  They look a little whapper jawed, but they really aren't!
These are so much fun to put together, I can't wait to see them in a quilt!  I'm loving all the white that I'm using lately, it looks so fresh and clean and crisp!  Crisp is good.  :)

I've had some of the fabric I'm using for many years, some of it from the late 70's and early 80's!  That painted looking fabric above on that first GF block is fabric that I made a warm up jacket out of for when I worked at the hospitals.  I had tons of it!  Some of the rest is among the very first fabrics I bought about 7 years ago when I decided to learn to quilt.  I love it, but I've been looking at it for so long, I'll be glad when it's all gone!
If I like the way this looks when it's done, I'm thinking of doing one in solids.  I think it would look great in my room on my bed!  And I'm just really really looking forward to using up some of that solid fabric.

I've thought of making a solid bargello, but just a small wall hanging.  I bet it would be very interesting.  I'm sure that someone else has already done it, but I'll design my own and give it a shot here soon.  :)

I'm working on block 5 of the Summer Sampler Series.  It's a paper pieced block and it's chewing up my stash pretty well!  I think I'll try using templates and see how that goes.  :) Will post one when I get it done.

I've got a lot to do this evening.  Electric was out for a while this afternoon, just as I sat down at my sewing machine.  GROWLLLLLL!!!!

Have a great evening, quilt happy and God Bless.  Anne

I saw that "Modern Quilt Block of the Month" too, and I can't believe you've already sewn one! I'm hemming and hawing about whether I'd like to make a quilt from those blocks, and am waiting to see what the next one is! I guess I need to see what my "whole quilt" options are before I will commit!

I can't believe how much you manage to get done! Seriously, you must never sleep :)
